Southern Africa from 1875 to 1910 was a region that suffered from great political instability which transpired into many conflicts. Southern Africa experienced rapidly changing balances of power, systems of government, and an increased loss of African influence. There were a variety of factors responsible for this instability and conflict, yet a few stand above the rest. Arguably most influential was the European conquest for power, territory and natural resources. These conquests conflicted with the African way of life and led to a decrease in African power.
